Gus McQuade is a classical guitarist from Leamington Spa, currently doing a masters at the Royal Academy of Music. He is the current holder of the Musicians’ Company’s prestigious New Elizabethan Award 2022/23 and recently gave his debut at Wigmore Hall with his duo partner Eleanor Grant (double bass & voice). Other recent awards include the Blyth Watson Award and Timothy Gilson Prize, as well as receiving scholarships for his studies from the Drake Calleja Trust, Help Musicians and Royal Academy of Music.
Gus recently performed as a soloist at Kings Place for the IGF’s London Guitar Festival (2022). He currently has numerous concerts lined up both as a soloist and chamber musician in venues including: Purcell Room, Surrey Hills International Music Festival, Petworth Music Festival, St. Bartholemew-the-great and Stapleford Granary. Whilst studying at the Academy Gus has performed in masterclasses with some of the world’s leading guitarists and lutenists, including David Russell, Fabio Zanon, Roberto Aussel, Xeufei Yang and Nigel North. Gus is passionate about expanding the guitar repertoire and regularly collaborates with composers. He is also a keen arranger, writing for solo guitar and different chamber ensembles.
